Ronald McDonald House Charities

RMHC-logoThe first foundation we’ll be spotlighting is Ronald McDonald House Charities, a nonprofit organization formed in 1974 with a mission to create, find, and support programs geared toward children’s health and well-being. The organization has a worldwide network of Chapters in more than fifty countries under a trio of core programs called Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room.

There are currently over 300 Ronald McDonald Houses in over fifty countries and regions. Each of these houses are designed as a safe place for families and their hospitalized children that are currently undergoing treatment and they can only be accessed by families within a certain distance from the hospital where the child is receiving treatment. Ronald McDonald’s Houses provide more than 7,000 bedrooms to families worldwide each night.

Ronald McDonald House Charities has received numerous acclaim including being named one of “America’s 100 Best Charities” twice by Worth magazine. Several of its houses have also received LEED Platinum certification, the peak of sustainable building in the United States which also means children and their families are staying in a healthier environment.
